Saving Money Advice Found Through These Awesome Websites!
70Let's admit it, we all need saving money advice. There are many sites that have helped me manage my finances and get on track. Some of these sites will help in your buying endeavors, from comparing gas prices, to getting books, movies, DVDs cheaply, to finding coupons for my razors. There are also sites for the harder more pressing issues like online budgeting tools. These sites are definitely worth checking out!
Find Your Local Gas Prices Using These Websites
These awesome sites will actually help you compare local gas prices in any area of the United States that you are in!
Gasbuddy.com - This site is awesome, I just peeked at my neck of the woods and found that D&W is the cheapest place to get gas right now, and it was updated only four hours ago. It gives me a savings of $.16 per gallon! Good thing I know not to go to Exxon today!
Gasprices.mapquest.com - This one is best if you are on a road trip, as it is tied right into mapquest.com; therefore, you can easily get directions, as well as find the local gas prices! Plus you can find out how far away it is from you, so that you will know if it is worth the gas money to get there.
Getting Cheap Used Books, Movies , and Other Media Websites
Do you have piles and piles of books, CDs, movies that you don't read, listen to, or watch? Well, then you should really look into one of these sites. They are so awesome, and I use them all the time. They all work much the same way, you post items that you no longer want, people order yours, you pay for shipping, you pick what you want, then you get it for free! Often times i have gotten brand new and many of them have been at least almost brand new! Basically, it is a way to get cheap used books, movies, dvd's and games.
paperbackswap.com - This one is not just for paperbacks, but you can also trade hard cover books as well. I have found that the quality of the books you get through this is usually really good. The people are pretty honest, and I have had no problems whatsoever!!!
swapadvd.com - You can only trade DVDs no VCR tapes here. The availability kind of stinks, but after having something on my wish list for awhile, they notify you. You also can trade your credits for those of its two affiliates paperbackswap.com and swapacd.com.
swapacd.com - Here you can trade CDs. Again the availability is not so good, but if you are patient you will eventually get the CDs that you are looking for.
swaptree.com- This one is by far my favorite. You can trade books for CDs, or DVDs for books, or CDs for DVDs or, well I think you get the point. Now they have even added other items as well. It's really awesome. People get rated on how reliable they are, so you know you are going to get good quality! Plus they rate the product, so you know ahead of time what condition the item is going to be in.
bookmooch.com - This one is my least favorite, but I post it because it's such a good deal. It is my least favorite, because the quality of the books aren't that great, the selection is not always stellar, but you earn lots of credits! In other words, it's more than a one book for one book. For instance, I have given twenty five books through this one and received thirty two. I like it, but I never trust this site to give good quality books!
Free Online Coupons for Groceries
Face it, coupon clipping will save you money, especially if there are products that you have to have in name brand. I can guarantee you can find multiple free online coupons for your groceries that you most use.
Mypoints.com - this is my all time favorite. Not only do they give you awesome coupons, but they also pay you per ad you look at. They will send you a few ads a week, and you earn five points for viewing more points if you order through it. Once you get a certain level of points, you can trade your points for gift certificates to many different places. I always get an Applebees or Olive Garden gift card. I've been doing it for over ten years!
hip2save.com - This site not only has coupons, but also gives free samples out as well. Apparently they give shopping strategies and shows you ways to do nearly free shopping! She is quoted saying, "I have only been going to it for about a month, and I've already got all kinds of free stuff mailed to me, probably saved $500 on groceries and other items, etc." Sounds like a great place to me!!!
Smartsource.com - This one is very easy to use, and before you view the coupons it asks for your zip code so that way they can pull local coupons as well!
coupons.com - This site you can print both national and local coupons. All you have to do is put your zip code in, and they will show you coupons that you can print for your local area. You can also connect yourself to them through twitter and facebook.
918couponqueen.com - This is another great place for free online coupons for groceries and other things. Once you get to the site, you will want to click on 'frugal living.' It will bring you to a blog that gives you coupons. Below the 'frugal living,' you will see "printable coupons" written in white. If you click on that you can view "printable coupons!"
redplum.com - another great site for more free online coupons for groceries!

Free Online Budgeting Tools!!!
These free online budgeting tools are awesome, and work with the same basic principle. You input your bills into these secure sites. They will upload your bills each month, as well as your income, and tell you a brief overview of your finances. Most of them offer charts that will break down what you are spending, what percentage of your income, etc. Since I have no need to use more than one of these, the only one I have personally tested out is mint.com, and I am very happy with it!
- mint.com
- geezeo.com
- wesabe.com
- moneytrackin.com
- clearcheckbook.com
- buxfer.com

If you like saving money, then take a look at this hub! You can save up to 90% off the retail price on Amazon.com or UK! *wink*
Everyone has a "comfort zone" in terms of getting the "best" deal. I used to own a Honda dealership. The customer's need for their "best deal." is as varied as the customers. I learned price is not the determining factor of a completed transaction. A successful salesperson must understand the "need," or benefit required by the customer. If the need is satiated, the sale is consummated. A successful salesman will key in on the adjectives used and reflect them. It may be "price," the customer hears. I owned the highest volume dealership in California and most people paid the same price. Their perception was they got the best "deal." Their perception is what brings them back and "WORD-OF-MOUTH."
This hub is full of useful information and I am going to bookmark it for future use. Excellent hub.
Thanks Michelle for your list.. Americans have great reputation for being the biggest spender. But recent recession has taught us to go frugal.
I hope people will find your hub helpful.
Good Hub. I shop thrift stores constantly and find gently used art frames--I frame my own art prints and save hundreds of dollars that way. Our Dollar stores have awesome deals, including products by Loreal and brand name imnported jams, coffees, etc./
Wow, This seems to be an amazing Hub. Thank you for sharing. I'm already looking forward to saving some $$. Have a great one!
This is great info! Thanks!

Excellent hub, especially the part about the book swapping sites (I had no idea!). Another great site which even offers free stuff (updated daily) is http://hip2save.com/ they have coupons, shopping strategies every week, show you how to combine coupons every day for free or nearly free shopping, and all kinds of free stuff. I have only been going to it for about a month, and I've already got all kinds of free stuff mailed to me, probably saved $500 on groceries and other items, etc.
Thanks for all the information and the links to resources that can save you money. I will definitely use the GasBuddy since I am always trying to figure out who has the lowest gas prices. I am on the road a lot so it can save me quite a bit of money.
Great info. I'm curious if anyone has any stories about how much money they have saved using sites like these over the years. I always feel like whatever is on sale or has a coupon is usually not that enticing. But I may be wrong...
Thanks! Awesome info Angela. You could also check out http://shebargains.com website! Every day there are posts on online deals, most of the deals are below $10 and saves considerably using online coupons and free shipping codes. No need to spend money on gas ;)
Great recommendations. I recognized several of these, so can vouch for just how useful a resource this hub will be to people looking to save money. Very well done!
